Medical Programs

Associate (AABA) in Medical Coding & Billing

To help meet the demand for qualified healthcare professionals with industry-current knowledge and skills, AIU Online's School of Healthcare Management now includes a concentration of study that can help prepare students to:

• Demonstrate knowledge of information processing, retention, storage and retrieval that assists entry- to mid-level opportunities for graduates to work in healthcare organizations.
• Demonstrate knowledge of information technology systems used in the health industry to facilitate the use of collection, interpretation, analysis and retrieval of patient, financial, medical and administrative data and information
• Demonstrate knowledge of classifying, coding of diagnosis, procedures and protocols used in coding systems in the health industry for medical records, insurance claims and billing for services provided.

The concentration in Medical Coding and Billing combines a broad base of fundamental business courses and general education requirements with career-relevant coursework relating to the modern healthcare industry. This real-world AABA degree program includes three concentration courses:

• Introduction to ICD Classification and Reimbursement
• Introduction to Coding and Billing
• Fundamentals of Healthcare Technology

Successful graduates of this program will have acquired the industry-current knowledge and skills to pursue a diverse range of career opportunities, including Medical Records Specialist, Patient Services Coordinator, Healthcare Technician, Insurance Verification Representative and many others.

Associate in Business Administration

AIU Online's Associate of Arts Degree in Business Administration is designed to prepare students for careers in the real world. Upon completion of the AABA degree, students can advance to the bachelor's program. The 90-credit AABA degree meets the lower level requirements of the Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration in Enterprise Management.
