Many Internet merchants are now offering free shipping deals to encourage online shopping, especially during the upcoming 2010-2011 holiday season.
Free shipping is a major savings when purchasing on the web.
Shipping costs can range from a few dollars per item to $5 or more, depending on the merchant, packaging weight and delivery distance.

Walmart and Target battle with free shipping for the holidays
 Both Walmart and Target Stores are giving free shipping on tens of thousands of products from computers, TV's, iPads, toys, movies and clothing.
Tight shopping season means customers will look for discounts
Online retailers like Amazon, Walmart, Target, Macy's, Toy R Us, and many others are already offering free shipping deals for the holidays.
Because of the slowdown in the economy, retailers are facing a tougher holiday season. To make up an expected drop in holiday shopping at "brick and mortar" stores, those merchants with web sites are providing more inducements to retain customers and develop more online purchases.
International shipping charges, though, may apply with some merchants. Check delivery rates for items to be shipped outside the country of origin.

Holiday Mailing Deadlines
Shipping dealines to mail packages and cards for the 2010 holiday start early December.
To have your package arrive by Christmas Day, December 25, the U.S. Postal Service recommends that items are mailed no later than:
- Dec. 3: International Priority Mail .
- Dec. 4: Prioroty Mail for military APO/FPO addresses.
- Dec. 11: International Exprwss Mail.
- Dec. 18: Express Mail for military APO/FPO addresses.
- Dec. 21: Domestic Priotity Mail
- Dec 22: Domestic Express Mail.

How to get free shipping promo codes
Some online merchants required a promotional code for free shipping discounts. Without the special code, shipping will be charged for these merchants.
When a promotional code is required, be sure to copy down the code when you see it. Make note of any expiration dates. Often, the merchant will not show the promo code during checkout. That requires the customer know the promo code prior to checking out.
If the code has any capital letters or lower case letter, copy the format correctly. Some codes may not work if they are not entered as provided. If you have a problem with a code, contact the advertiser directly. See Promotional Codes.
