What happened to Travelocity's Last Minute Deals?

Travelocity has discontinued its Last Minute Deals promotion. In its place, Travelocity has other promotions on their web site.

The Last Minute Deal was an easy way for Travelocity to group unsold rooms, flights and rental offers that had expiration dates. But, too many people waited until the last minute to book. Both Travelocity and the hotel, airline or car rental lost money.

Instead, smart consumers have realized that last minute prices are posted anyway. When conducting a search for a room or flight, the few days before the date will show the lowest possible rate. Any rooms or seats not sold by then is lost revenue.

Since Travelocity can negotiate in bulk, those posted rates can often be lower than the hotel or airline web site rates.
