Delta's first Wi-Fi-equipped MD88

Wi-Fi earned its “Delta wings” its first Internet-ready MD88 took to the skies in October 2008. Engineers from Delta’s TechOps division and Aircell were onboard the aircraft to validate the system’s functionality. This was the first test flight of a Delta aircraft with Aircell’s Gogo broadband Wi-Fi system installed.

Delta Air Lines begins new flights between Atlanta and Brasilia, Brazil, in December 2009

Delta Air Lines starts nonstop service between Atlanta and Brasilia, Brazil on Dec. 17, 2009, subject to foreign government approval.

Delta will be the only U.S. airline to fly nonstop to Brasilia, Brazil's capital city, increasing to six the number of cities served by Delta in the country.

Delta has offered service between Atlanta and Sao Paulo for more than ten years, and has continued expanding throughout the years with nonstop flights between Atlanta and Rio de Janeiro, New York City-JFK and Sao Paulo, Atlanta and Manaus, and a direct one-stop flight connecting Atlanta to Recife and Fortaleza.

On May 21, 2009, Delta also will begin nonstop service between Los Angeles and Sao Paulo.

"As Delta continues to grow in Latin America, this new flight to Brasilia becomes a significant step in our expansion given the governmental and diplomatic activity in Brazil's capital," said Jim Cron, Delta's senior vice president of Global Sales and Distribution.

The new Atlanta-Brasilia flight will be operated with a Boeing 757-200ER, with 158 seats in Economy Class and 16 seats in BusinessElite(R), Delta's award-winning premium service.

New fare reductions position Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky as airport of choice for nonstop travel to more than 90 worldwide destinations

Delta Air Lines lowered business and leisure fares in domestic markets served from its Cincinnati hub.

The reductions offer more than 80 percent of customers flying to or from Cincinnati a significant savings on advance-purchase leisure and business fares to the hub's most popular destinations, including select cities in Florida, the Northeast and along the West coast.

Customers can take advantage of these new fares while enjoying convenient nonstop service to nearly 90 domestic destinations.

Delta Partners with TSA to Expand Mobile Check-in with Electronic Boarding Pass to Memphis International Airport

Memphis-departing customers can now check in and receive electronic boarding passes on Web-enabled devices

Delta Air Lines (NYSE: DAL) today announced it is putting even greater convenience in the hands of its customers by partnering with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to launch paperless check-in for domestic travel on nonstop Delta, Northwest and Delta Connection flights departing from Concourses A, B and C at Memphis International Airport.

Customers will have the option of using their mobile device to check-in and receive an electronic boarding pass via their Web-enabled devices.

"Delta's time-saving technology puts customers in control of their experience and provides them with valuable convenience," said Josh Weiss, Delta's managing director - delta.com and self service. "Passengers can now quickly check in and receive a boarding pass for their Delta, Northwest or Delta Connection flight while en route to the Memphis International Airport, in a taxi or walking from the parking lot to the terminal. Other airports currently offering mobile check-in to Delta and Northwest customers include; Minneapolis-St. Paul and Las Vegas; Detroit and Indianapolis (Northwest only); and New York-LaGuardia (Delta only).

Delta and Northwest are joining together to create America's premier global airline.
